Pakistan reliance on import of pulses surged by 50 per cent to $599.285 million in July-February 2017, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Pulses import growth stood at $199.305m in July-February 2017 from $399.980m in July-February 2016, the PBS' report said, and added that in terms of value, pulses import in July-February 2017 also shot up by 23pc or 143,769 metric tons to $781,126 metric tons from 637,357 metric tons in July-February 2016.
In February 2017, the country's import of pulses mounted by over 116pc or $58.196m to $108.336m from $50.140m in February 2016. Import volume of pulses scaled up by 116pc or 84,988 metric tons to 158,530 metric tons in February 2017 from 73,542 metric tons in February 2016.
