Growers across the province on Wednesday hoist black flags on roof top of their homes, wore black bands around their arms and participated in different rallies and seminars to protest against Indian Water Aggression against Pakistan and to mark the World Water Day.
Speaking at a seminar in this regard, Kissan Board Pakistan (KBP) President Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad alleged that Pakistan's agriculture and industrial sector were facing a big devastation because of Indian water aggression. He said that the rulers should play their role in raising this issue at the international level. He said that whole world was known of the fact that Indians were trying to deprive Pakistan of its share in the rivers.
KBP leaders also addressed similar seminars and meetings in other cities of the province and they said that hydraulic system of six rivers were towards Pakistan but it was completely deprived of three rivers while 90 percent water of other three was also stopped by India. They claimed that Pakistan was not in a position to construct any big dam till 2020 while Bhasha dam also seemed impossible to be completed by 2018.
They proposed that the government should immediately start construction of Kalabagh Dam which was guarantor of our economic and food security. The Board has also announced another public meeting at Naushehran Virkan on March 23, 2017 (Thursday) to condemn Indian water aggression.
