A close aide of slain PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto on Monday invoked the Supreme Court appellant jurisdiction against Islamabad High Court's decision that rejected Naheed Khan's plea for seeking the party title to her name. Earlier, Naheed Khan, a political secretary of Benazir Bhutto, had urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to declare the intra-party elections in 2013 illegal seeking the PPP's title for her party.
Soon after the ECP dismissed her plea she challenged the intra-party election results before the IHC in May 2013, however, on February 06, 2017 the IHC also dismissed her petition in the matter. Syed Iftikhar Gillani challenged the IHC verdict on behalf of his client before apex court making ECP through Chief Election Commissioner, Dr Ghulam Hussain, Secretary General of the PPP (Shaeed Bhutto) and Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa as respondents. Urging the apex court to set aside the IHC verdict in the matter, Naheed Khan requested the court to decide a number of questions of law including whether a person who is in the service of Pakistan can be allowed to enlist a political party.
