The city police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan to avert any untoward incident on the occasion of Pakistan Day parade to be held on March 23. An official said that under the security plan, over 2,500 personnel of city police along with personnel of Rangers and personnel of Pakistan army would be deployed for security duties in the city on March 23.
He said the city police, rangers and personnel of 111 Brigade of armed forces would jointly perform security duties on the eve of Pakistan Day parade. The official further said that under the plane all routes leading to Parade Ground would be put on high alert and strict checking of vehicles will be conducted. Under the plan, Islamabad has been divided into four sectors and each sector would be monitored by an SP rank officer.
The official said SSP (operations) Sajid Kiyani briefed the police officials and Jawans about security plan at Safe City Center which was also attended by SP city Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SP Rural Dr Syed Tanveer Mustafa and other senior police officials.
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has already imposed section 144 of the criminal procedure code (CrPC) in Islamabad. Section 144 also prohibits public gatherings of five or more persons, rallies and demonstrations within Islamabad. The administration also imposed ban on display of weapons, firework, wall chalking, kite flying and use of loudspeaker.
The SSP also issued strict directives to ensure ban on flying kites, drone cameras; aerial firing and flying pigeons. He said that high-ups of police have issued directives to ensure effective patrolling as well as checking at the entry and exit points of the capital city. They also issued directives to police for maintaining close coordination among all wings of capital city police as well as ordered to conduct effective combing operations in slum areas. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has also chalked out a special plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the occasion of Pakistan Day military parade.
