The Punjab police in collaboration with the Strategic Reform Unit (SRU) of the Chief Minister's office on Friday launched a 'Local Eye' android-based mobile application with an aim to curb crimes in the provincial capital. "We have launched this application specifically for the representatives of the local government. This application will help them in receiving complaints from their constituencies and redirect the same to the relevant police station for their redressal," said Senior Superintendent of Police (Admin) Ayyaz Saleem while briefing the media about the silent features of this App.
The event was attended by Director General of the SRU Samlan Sufi, Member SRU Rida Shahzad, CCPO Lahore Amin Wains, SSP Admin Ayyaz Saleem, Lord Mayor Lahore Mubashir Javed, Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) Zakia Shahnawaz, MNAPervez Malik and others. The Lord Mayor, deputy mayors and union council chairmen will have the access to this App.
Those who want to install this App will have to approach the police. The SSP said the application is connected with the CCPO's office which will monitor this App. This app has six different icons for lodging any complaint regarding hate-speech, brothels, drug paddling dens and other criminal activities, he added.
