The young doctors association (YDA) ended their protest after success of talks with the health department officials; however, they have given 48 hours for acceptance of their demands. Earlier, patients had to face great hardship in OPDs and wards due to strike of doctors. Even the patients at emergency ward had to face difficulties. A patient namely Muhammad Hussain reportedly lost his life early Wednesday morning due to Young Doctors Association (YDA) strike in Services hospital.
The deceased family staged a protest against the doctors outside the Services Hospital and alleged that Muhammad Hussain, who was resident of Ghaziaabad, was not given medical care by the doctors due to the strike. According to reports, the situation turned worst at the Services Hospital where the protesters closed the emergency ward, slip counter, OPD as well as the inpatient and outpatient facilities of the hospital. Similar conditions prevailed in other wards.
Afterward, YDA representatives and Punjab health department officials held talks and the protesting young doctors finally announced to end their protest but demanded acceptance of their demands. A representative of YDA said the doctors have not completely ended boycott as they vowed to continue skip duties at Lahore's Service hospital till all demands are met.
