Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Wednesday accused the institutions of protecting the government instead of the state, saying nobody is ready to probe Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Panamagate case. Talking to media persons outside the Supreme Court, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made the institutions including National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) dysfunctional, saying no official like attorney general is ready to assist the court in this regard.
PTI leader Faisal Javed opined that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) needs to choose another prime minister within the next 24 hours. He feared that the government may attack the Supreme Court if the verdict is delivered against it. JI leader Sirajul Haq was of the view that the government's boat is about to sink and the decision in Panama Leaks case would come in public favour. "Even Qatari prince cannot save the prime minister now," he claimed.
On the other hand, PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz has said that chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was appointed with the consultation of all political parties including PTI. Talking to media persons outside the Supreme Court premises, he said the PTI is levelling false allegations against NAB, but the Bureau is working independently. Daniyal said the PTI had claimed to eradicate corruption from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in ninety days but it has failed to do so.
He said the PTI leader General Hamid Khan (Retd) had been forced to leave the party over highlighting corruption of its political leaders. The Sharif family, he said, has presented itself in the court for transparent accountability. He asked Imran Khan to bring back Hamid Khan for transparent accountability of PTI leaders.
"Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen are the most corrupt politicians in the country as they have hidden the tax documents," Daniyal alleged. He also stressed the chairman PTI to submit money trail of Jemaima Khan in the court. PML-N leader Maiza Hameed while speaking on the occasion said that Nawaz Sharif is the first prime minister in the history of country who presented himself in the court for accountability of three generations.
