President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has said that India has launched a drive to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor; China and Russia must convince India not to make such efforts to derail the project and realize her benefits of CPEC.
He was addressing the inaugural session of two-day international conference on "Kashmir in Focus: Avoiding Conflict and Quest for Peace" on Tuesday. The conference is organised by Pakistan Study Centre of Punjab University. Addressing the conference, Sardar Masood Khan said that Azad Jamu and Kashmir was now a part of CPEC project; power projects and an industrial zone would be set up at different places in AJ&K. He said that Kashmiris would protect their right to self-determination at any cost and we would continue to fight for our freedom. He said that Kashmiris must be given right to self-determination as per UN resolutions. He said that India is out to term the freedom movement as terrorism while the fifth generation in Indian Held Kashmir was offering sacrifices of their lives to decide their future. He said that Kashmiris' movement was peaceful like Pakistan Movement.
He also said it is difficult to describe Indian atrocities in words. He said that Indian forces had a license to kill and large number of people has lost their sight due to pellet guns and indiscriminate shelling of Indian forces. He said that Kashmir was guarantor of Pakistan's security and economic stability and Pakistan was incomplete without Kashmir. He said that India wanted Kashmir issue not to be a core agenda between the two countries. He said that Kashmir issue was trilateral, not bilateral and Kashmiris were the most important stakeholders.
He said that Kashmir issue was not being resolved only because we were Muslims. He said that we must move forward to resolve Kashmir issue with utmost confidence. He said that India could not attack Pakistan and could not defeat Pakistan in traditional or nuclear war but it had beaten Pakistan on communication front. He said that Indian community in America had influenced an important stakeholder and Pakistan must improve its diplomatic efforts to fight their propaganda. He urged media, think tank and academic institutions to play their role in countering Indian propaganda.
Addressing the conference, PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said that academic institutions must take lead in finding the solution to Kashmir issue acceptable to all and China must play active role in this regard. He said that economic development was a must to face major challenges being faced by the country.
Professor Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi said that peace in South Asia was linked with resolution of Kashmir issue. He said that it was not a territorial dispute but a question of right to self-determination. He said that war and militancy were not solution to Kashmir issue while international community was also not keen in the matter. He said that we must highlight human rights violations in Kashmir and delink Kashmiris' freedom movement from a terrorist movement. He said that we must inform international community about the facts about Kashmir issue. He said that we must spread the cause at national and societal level.
Moonis Ahmer said that India had turned a piece of heaven into a colossal jail on earth. He said that political parties in India wanted to repeal article 370 of its Constitution in which Kashmir had been given special autonomous status. He said that Kashmir was the test case for Indian secularism. He said that India wanted to repeal article 370 to absorb Kashmir.
