The Met Office on Saturday forecast rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills for scores of places in upcountry and northern areas in the next 24 hours. The rainy and snowy weather is likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while at scattered places in Islamabad, Upper Punjab, and North Balochistan. Isolated heavy rain/snow over the hills is also expected in Malakand and Hazara Divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
"A western disturbance is affecting upper and western parts of the country and likely to persist over upper parts of the country till Monday," the Met said. Weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain/snow occurred at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Quetta divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Temperature in Parachinar was -7 degrees Celsius, Malamjabba -3, Skardu and Gupis -2 each, and Bagrote -1.
Weather in the next 48 hours: Rain-thunderstorm (with snow over the hills) is expected at a number of places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, while at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions). Isolated heavy rain/snow over the hills is also expected in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
