Filing contempt plea in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Supermodel Ayyan Ali sought directives for removal of her name from the Exit Control List (ECL). Making Federal Interior Secretary Arif Ahmed Khan respondent in contempt petition under Article 204 of the Constitution read with Section 3 & 4 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2003, Ayyan Ali submitted that her name was not removed from the ECL despite the January 30, 2017 orders of the apex court.
Ayyan Ali was apprehended on March 14, 2015 on charges of money laundering after customs officials had recovered over US $500,000 from her luggage at Benazir International Islamabad airport while she was securing boarding card for a flight to UAE. It is important to mention here that trial in the matter is pending before Special Court Rawalpindi. Her name has been included and excluded several times from the ECL since her arrest.
She alleged in the contempt plea filed before the apex court that secretary interior and other officials on the ministry are flouting the court orders as the apex court has issued directives to the concerned officials to remove Ayyan Ali name from the ECL in January 30, 2017.
