In the wake of Lahore terror incident, an all Regional Police Officers Conference was held in Central Police Office Peshawar on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani. Additional IGP Headquarters Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Additional IGP Special Branch Salah-ud-Din Mehsood, Additional IGP CTD Mubarak Zeb Khan, Chief Capital City Police Muhammad Tahir Khan, All Regional Police Officers, DIG Training and AIG Establishment attended the meeting.
Additional IGP CTD briefed the participants about the overall quantum of threats and the activity of the militant groups. He informed that various groups have joined hands together in cohort with hostile foreign agencies to create instability in Pakistan through terrorist activities.
The RPOs individually briefed the forum about the vulnerability of their areas and different security measures taken by police to thwart any evil design of the terrorists.
After detailed discussion the IGP directed the participants to immediately call a meeting of all stake-holders to review the threat alerts of last one year and analyze each of the threat individually and must act against the threats.
The IGP further directed that security of all sensitive and vulnerable establishments including that of police offices, judiciary, court premises, hospitals, educational instructions ought to be reviewed through specially constituted teams under the officer of SP rank. The loopholes identified in the security Audit must be plugged in immediately, he added.
The IGP further directed that a vibrant response mechanism must be put in place to deal with emergency situations and in this regard rehearsals should be carried out in the presence of RPOs and DPOs.
