The Karachi Port handled 318,427 tonnes of cargo comprising 239,336 tonnes of import cargo and 79,091 tonnes of export cargo including 9,617 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 239,336 tonnes comprised of 115,732 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,036 tonnes of general cargo; 49,522 tonnes of bulk cargo: 36,572 tonnes of coal; 4,535 tonnes of soyabean meal; 8,415 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 42,046 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 79,091 tonnes comprised of 78,231 tonnes of containerised cargo and 860 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 9,617 containers comprising of 3,678 containers import and 5,939 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,616 of 20's and 1,003 of 40's loaded while 14 of 20's and 21 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 841 of 20's and 533 of 40's loaded containers while 866 of 20's and 1,583 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were ten ships namely Sabya, Sima Giselle, Prosper, MSC Positano, MT Lahore, CTG Bismuth, Cora, Dl Clover, Al Yasat-II and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tankers, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessels viz. MSC Positano, Prosper, OOCL Italy, Hyundai Oakland, Cora, Al Mahboobah, Cora, FPMC P Glory, Leader, Penelopel, Centenario Blu and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tankers, rice, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Hyundai Oakland, Cosco Haifa and Wan Hai-511 carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Centenario Blu carrying coal is expected to sail on Tuesday. There were four vessels viz. X-Press Kailash, Adrian Schulte, Northern Dependant and Liberty Pride carrying containers and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Monday while six vessels viz. YM Excellence, Crystal Sambu, Navig8 Gallantry, Spar Apus, Long Lucky and BF Ayita carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A cargo volume of 95,437 tonnes comprising 41,838 tonnes of import cargo and 53,599 tonnes of export cargo including 3,272 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 41,838 tonnes includes 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 13,200 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,600 tonnes of LPG; 6,000 tonnes of LNG; 3,800 tonnes of chemical; 1,169 tonnes of project cargo and 8,569 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 53,599 tonnes includes 53,599 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,272 containers comprising of 451 containers import and 2,821 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were two ships namely CV Maersk Nicoline and CV Express Kailash carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MT Maran Gas Posidonia and MT Pacific Gas carrying LNG and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Nicoline, CV Express Kailash, CV MSC Elma, MV YM Miranda, MV Da Tuan Song, MV Astraea SB, MT Maran Gas Posidonia, MT Pacific Gas and MT SC Behai currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, project cargo, canola seeds, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV MSC Messina, CV Jazan, MV Bunga Almaanda, MV FPMC Fortune, MT Maria-III, MT Khor Gas, MT Nordic Gas, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Ashada, MT Arietis, MT Pacific Energy and MT Harmony-1 carrying containers, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Messina, CV Jazan and MT Arietis carrying containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were five ships namely MV Chance, MT Bneider, MT Bunga Alamanda, MT Navig8 Aquamarine and MT Chemroad Mega carrying soyabean seeds, diesel oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Monday, while three more ships namely CV Mataquito, CV Maersk Pittsburge and CV MSC Tomoco carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
