Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 140,500 tonnes of cargo comprising 116,266 tonnes of import cargo and 24,234 tonnes of export cargo including 6,640 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 116,266 tonnes comprised of 40,137 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,736 tonnes of general cargo; 29,207 tonnes of bulk cargo: 11,957 tonnes of coal; 6,344 tonnes of DAP; 3,675 tonnes of soyabean meal; 6,103 tonnes of rock phosphate and 45,186 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,234 tonnes comprised of 22,792 tonnes of containerised cargo; 492 tonnes of general cargo and 950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,640 containers comprising of 3,226 containers import and 3,414 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,322 of 20's and 875 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 75 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 780 of 20's and 231 of 40's loaded containers while 638 of 20's and 767 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Vania, Taroko, YM Enlightenment, MT Quetta and Alam Molek carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Wan Hai-511, MT Lahore and Serengeti carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Everrich-5, Maistros, Marylaki and Nowowiejski carrying oil tankers, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely MT Lahore, Serengeti and Al Yasat-II carrying oil tankers and rock phosphote respectively are expected to sail on Saturday, while another ship namely Sima Giselle carrying containers is expected to sail on Sunday.
There were four vessels viz. Cora, Najdiah, Da Kang and Mandarin Sky carrying oil tanker, mogas and project cargo due to arrive on Friday while nine vessels viz. Hyundai Oakland, Prosper, MOL Explorer, MSC Positano, MT Karachi, Corona, Penelopel, SBI Hera and Centenario Blu carrying containers, oil tankers, rice and coal respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
