Speakers at a 'Kissan Conference' urged the government and armed forces to take notice of Indian water aggression against Pakistan besides the threats of breaching the Indus Basin Water Treaty. Kissan conference was arranged by the Pakistan Mutthida Kissan Mahaz and participated by the growers' organizations from across Pakistan including Kissan Board Pakistan, Pakistan Kissan Ittehad, Anjuman Kashatkaran Pakistan, Pakistan Kissan Council, Balochistan Action Committee, Abadgar Board Sindh and Zamindar Council from KPK.
A resolution was moved in the conference against Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiris and violations of Indus Basin Water Treaty. The resolution was unanimously adopted by the participants saying that all the organizations were united to give a befitting reply to Indian water aggression.
Member of British House of Lord, Lord Nazir Ahmad also addressed the participants telephonically and condemned the Indian threats to Pakistan on water issue. Speaking on this occasion Pakistan Mutthida Kissan Mahaz (PMKM) Chairman Ayub Khan Mayo said that nothing good could be expected from India who always hatched conspiracies against Pakistan.
He said that all the grower organizations would take up this issue jointly to foil the Indian nefarious designs. He said that India also wanted to turn Pakistani lands barren so to market its agricultural products in the international products. He said that the participants fully support the steps being taken by the Punjab government for improvement of agriculture. He also praised the performance of the Punjab agriculture department.
Speakers also alleged that India was trying to deprive Pakistan of water of Chenab and Jhelum rivers with the support of US and World Bank. They said that the government should take immediate notice of it and vowed to come on roads to protest against Indian designs. They urged the government of Pakistan and armed forces to take notice of Indian terrorism.
