Omair Sana Foundation on Tuesday organised a hepatitis B vaccination camp for children suffering from thalassaemia and their family members at its centre. The camp was visited by a large number of people. Speaking on the occasion, OSF's chief operation officer, Obaid Hashmi, said that hepatitis B and C cases are increasing in our society and hence the need of the hour is that government and NGOs must chalk out a comprehensive programme for the prevention of these diseases. He also deplored that the cases of the diseases requiring blood transfusion have been increasing owing to unavailability of safe blood in the interior of Sindh.
He also urged the people and stakeholders to pressurise government and other concerned organisations for providing better health facilities in every nook and cranny of the country. He said since regular blood transfusion is required for the children suffering from thalassaemia, it was the prime responsibility of thalassaemia centres to save the affected children from this life-threatening blood disorder. At the outset, he informed the audience that the OSF was providing best possible treatment facilities to children suffering from thalassaemia so that they could become productive citizens of the society.
