Former leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Saleem Shahzad was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand on Tuesday. According to details, Saleem Shahzad was presented before the court amid high security for the hearing of various cases against him including providing medical facilities to terrorists. During the hearing, the court asked the accused why he didn't apply for protective bail before returning to Pakistan over which, he said that he didn't know about his arrest at Karachi airport.
Talking to media, Saleem Shahzad said that leaders of Pakistan Sarzameen Party (PSP) are 'kids'. When I was in politics, they (PSP workers) were not even in the party, he added. Earlier on Monday, the leader was taken into custody upon his arrival at Karachi airport from Dubai.
Saleem Shahzad has been accused of his escape from the country on fake identity card in 1990s. He was also declared as proclaimed offender in Dr Asim case. Ex-MQM leader expressed satisfaction over the judicial system in Pakistan and said that he will face all the charges against him. Meanwhile, chief of Pakistan Sarzameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal said that Saleem Shahzad has no link with the party. He said there is still a scary voice behind MQM.
