The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA-Punjab) has claimed that delay in release of guarantee money is causing severe liquidity crunch for exporters and they are forced to withdraw themselves from this process. PFMA expressed concerns on what it says apathy of the Punjab government and the provincial food department in export of wheat and wheat products.
Extension in period for export was announced some 15 days back but till date agreements of only 7000 tons of wheat or wheat products had been made by the exporters which was a clear hint of their least interest in the export process. The government had allowed exporting 350,000 tons of wheat but this is not possible if the present situation continued.
This was claimed by the PFMA Punjab Chairman Riaz Ullah Khan and Central Leader Asim Raza Ahmad while talking to journalists here on Monday. They said that the government had announced a rebate on export of wheat and wheat products to dispose of the surplus stocks of wheat in the country, after that around 900,000 tons of wheat and wheat flour was exported. They alleged that the provincial government and its food department were adopting delaying tactics in case of payments, which was sabotaging the export process.
