Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare (SPSH), Ali Jan Khan has directed the districts to expedite the implementation of development projects so that optimal utilisation of resources is ensured.
Chairing the monthly Chief Executive Officers (Health) Meeting at the Directorate General Health Services here on Sunday, he said that revamping of 40 hospitals in Punjab will complete in this fiscal year and the project will be expanded to all hospitals in Punjab later on.
Alongside the Secretary PSH, Director General Health Services Punjab Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, CEOs (Health) of all districts, Chief Minister Roadmap team, PITB, Policy and Strategic Planning Unit, UNICEF, WHO and Program Managers participated in the conference.
Director EPI Dr Munir shared that Lahore, Rawalpindi, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Sheikhupura must improve measles 2 coverage as lack of vigilance may risk an outbreak in summer. He also emphasised that complacency must be avoided in polio eradication and mother neo-natal tetanus, and good work must continue after recent successes.
"The prevalence of Hepatitis B and C is a high priority area for the government and the system needs to respond aggressively to the challenge," the Secretary said. The Hepatitis Control Program shared their strategy and said the Program is devising innovative plans to rise to the challenge.
The Secretary PSH said hospitals having more than one Specialists will ensure their working in different shifts and first hospitals ensuring compliance will be awarded.
The meeting also reviewed the new hospital management structure and new organogram. It was informed that Medical Superintendents will have technical and non technical support staff with them for better service delivery. Also came under review the Scope of work for District Health Authorities representation of participants in the committees.
Ali Jan Khan also directed penalties and other disciplinary measures against staff not complying with bio metric attendance. The meeting reviewed the status of BHUs, facilities and resources needed for improvement.
The Chief Minister Roadmap team presented analysis on Key Performance Indicators for Primary and Secondary Healthcare. The status of safe deliveries, Medical Officer Presence, Medical Officer Posting, Consultant postings and janitorial services was also reviewed through data analysis.
