Currently Pakistan is importing 74MW electricity from Iran while the existing capacity has been enhanced to 104MW and Quetta Electric Supply Company will start receiving additional power soon. According to the documents, the details of the interconnections are: Mirjawa (Iran)-Taftan (Pakistan) interconnection (20KV) supplies 2MW of electricity; Jalgh (Iran)-Mashkail (Pakistan) interconnection (20KV) supplies 2MW; and Jackigur (Iran)-Mand (Pakistan) interconnection (132KV) is currently supplying 70MW power to Makran division through 132KV grid station at Mand and the additional 30MW electricity will come through the same line.
The documents further said that the Sindh government has reviewed the coal fired power projects including Engro Powergen (660MW) Coal-fired Power Project at Thar Block-II; Shinghai Electric (1320MW) Coal-fired Power Project at Thar Block-I; Thar Energy Ltd (330MW) Coal-fired Power Project at Thar Block-II; and Thal Nova (330MW) Coal-fired Power Project at Thar Block-II. The documents further said that as many as 173 ''Kundas'' (illegal hooks) were found for electricity theft in district Swat during the present government''s era while total amount of line losses is Rs 0.44 million.
