Besides, NTDC is developing HVDC transmission projects for bulk power transfers from South to North of the country.
Keeping in view the stringent timelines of the projects, some modifications in line with international practices have been proposed in the future bidding documents. In this context, a seminar is being organised for all contractors, suppliers and manufacturers at a local hotel on 2nd of February (today).
NTDC has already solicited debt arrangement from various financial institutions for an amount of Rs 18 billion along with Letter of Credit Facility of over Rs 15 billion for building transmission network. The consortium of Askari Bank Ltd, Faysal Bank Ltd and Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Ltd won the mandate in December 2015 after a competitive bidding process.
The transaction is a combination of Islamic and conventional mode of financing wherein Rs 6.5 billion has been arranged in the conventional mode and Rs 11.5 billion has been arranged in the Sharia compliant mode. These transactions have a door to door tenor of 15 years.
