Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector of Pakistan is fully capable of producing high quality products and now it has to concentrate on effective marketing to get a reasonable share from the international markets, said Ms. Shaheena Anjum Director Marketing La Nippon Global Business Development.
She was addressing a training session in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Sunday. Miss Shaheena Anjum has a rich experience in the field of exports and marketing as she had earlier served in Pakistan Japan Business Council and is fully conversant with the development of SME sector of Japan. She said that the development of Japan was directly linked with its 97% SME sector which has made a number of new inventions in addition to successfully introducing and marketing the same in the international markets. She said that Pakistan was producing high quality textile, sports and surgical goods but due to the ineffective marketing their exports are restricted to minimum. Explaining the Japanese experience of SME sector with latest market trends in sale technology, she said that the Pakistani SME sector has limited financial resources and hence it could not higher the services of competent marketing experts at the hefty salaries.
She said that La Nippon has fabricated special courses for the SME sector of Pakistan which could be offered at subsidised rates through FCCI. Under this training package the participants will get lectures, printed materials etc in addition to visiting the selected SME units of Japan for their practical studies.
Responding to a question, she said that Japan was heavily investing in R&D which has resulted in the production of a number of new inventions which could be easily marketed on commercial bases. She mentioned the Pharmaceutical industry of Japan and told that Japanese are enjoying excellent health with maximum life span of around 100 years. She said that Pakistan could also introduce these items in Pakistan to root out various prevalent diseases. She also mentioned the excellent safety arrangement made in various industrial units of Japan and told during last 7 years no fatal incident was reported in any SME sector of Japan. She asked the participants of the seminar to get them registered for this subsidized training program immediately which is expected to start from the month of March. She further told that 15 subsidized seats have been reserved for the FCCI members. The function was also attended by Secretary General FCCI Abid Masood and Director Research and Development MD Tahir.
