Prices of the essential kitchen items have witnessed a mixed trend during the last week as compared with the preceding week, a survey carried out byBusiness Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that the prices of most used kitchen items like tomatoes, onions, garlic, and ginger remained stable, while sugar price came down from Rs 3,200 to Rs 3,100 per 50kg bag and tea prices went up by Rs 100 per kg.
Lipton Yellow Label and Supreme tea rates have increased by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 660 to Rs 760 per kg, while sugar price in retail market has also reduced from Rs 73 to Rs 67 per kg.
Tomatoes are being available at Rs 180 per 5kg in wholesales market, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 45 per kg, onions at Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market are being sold at Rs 40 per kg and potatoes at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail they are being available at Rs 25 per kg.
Ginger price in wholesale market went down from Rs 500 to Rs 450 per 5kg, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 120 per kg. No change was observed in garlic price which is being available at Rs 1,500 per 5kg in wholesales market and at Rs 320 per kg in retail, lemon price reduced from 320 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 90 per kg.
However, during the week under review chicken price witnessed an increase in wholesales as well as in retail market as live chicken is being available at Rs 4,400 per 40-kg against Rs 4,000 per 40 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 115 per kg against Rs 110 per kg. Chicken meat is being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 170 per kg, while different qualities of fish are being available in the range of Rs 180 to Rs 350 per kg.
Egg prices witnessed a reduction from Rs 125 per dozen to Rs 110 per dozen which in retail are being sold at Rs 120 per dozen while wheat flour price witnessed no change which is being sold at Rs 760 per 20kg bag in retail.
No change was witnessed in brinjal price which is being available at Rs 200 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail market it is being available at Rs 45/50 per kg, carrot price witnessed no change and it is being available at Rs 100 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 25 per kg.
Cucumber's price remained Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 50 per kg, a pack of 8kg radish in wholesales market is being available at Rs 100 per pack against Rs 80, which in retail is being sold at Rs 15 per kg.
Peas prices went up from Rs 250 to Rs 280 per 5kg which in retail market are being sold at Rs 70 per kg per kg against Rs 60 per kg. kadu prices went up from Rs 200 to Rs 280 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 60 per kg.
Kareela price didn't change which is being available at Rs 350 per 5kg in the wholesale market and at Rs 85 per kg in retail market. Arvi price went down from Rs 350 to Rs 300 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 80 per kg.
No change was observed in cauliflower and cabbage prices as both are being sold at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesales market while at Rs 25 per kg in the retail market. Capsicum price went down from Rs 300 to Rs 275 per 5kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 80 per kg. Beans price in wholesales market went up by Rs 50 per 5kg from Rs 150 to Rs 200, which in retail market are being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Good quality ghee/cooking oil brands like Dalda per 5kg tin is being available at Rs 850, while normal ghee/cooking oil like Phool and Fauji brands are being available at Rs 130 per kg.
No change in the prices of other essential kitchen items including rice, pulses, spices, milk, ghee/cooking oil, salt and others was witnessed. The LPG is being sold at Rs 115 per kg and a domestic LPG cylinder of 15kg is being available at Rs 1,550 per cylinder.
Prices of most of the fruits during the week under review witnessed a declining trend as good quality Indian banana is being sold at Rs 125 per dozen against Rs 140 per dozen. Best quality local banana is being available at Rs 80 per dozen while normal at Rs 50 per dozen. Different types of oranges are being sold in the range of Rs 60 to Rs 180 per dozen with Shakari at Rs 180 per dozen and Kinnow at Rs 50 per dozen. Pomegranates with a price reduction are being available at Rs 120-175 per kg against Rs 150-200 per kg. Guava is being sold at Rs 50-80 per kg, apples are in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 180 per kg and good quality grapes are being available at Rs 180 per kg.
