Reacting to opening of Metro Bus Service in Multan, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) senior leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said on Tuesday that if billions of rupees spent on "jangla" bus in Multan were incurred on providing ventilators in hospitals and education in Multan, future of our coming generations would have been secured.
Talking to media, Elahi said the government is supposed to provide jobs to the people, but "jangla" bus in Multan has rendered jobless to those who were making their both ends meet by plying rickshaws, taxis and local buses. He was of the view that rendering people jobless would cause surge in crime rate. The PML-Q leader maintained that Shehbaz Sharif is saying that Metro bus project is cheaper travelling facility whereas in reality it is just the opposite, amount to be paid as subsidy has to be paid by the people out of their pockets, after Lahore and Rawalpindi, in Multan also "jangla" bus is being run out of hard earned money of the people. He alleged that sitting rulers are least bothered about plight of the people.
"If Rs 28.88 billion incurred on Multan "jangla" bus as estimated cost was utilised on providing basic facilities to the people, not only precious human lives could be saved but living standard of people would also have been improved," he opined.
He said that people of Multan are saying they are just wondering they do not need "jangla" bus but ventilators and medicines in hospitals and quality education. Multan city has been divided into two parts through Metro bus, people have not been paid even real cost of their costly land, he said.
