Work on rural roads causing positive impact on agriculture economy: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Saturday to review progress of Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that work was being carried out speedily on construction and rehabilitation of rural roads under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme which was leaving a positive impact on agri economy. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme was the biggest project in the history of Pakistan.
He said that because of Pakian Sarkan-Saukhay Painday programme provision of modern communication facilities were available to rural population. Shehbaz Sharif said that construction and rehabilitation work of 5500 kilometer rural roads had been completed at a cost of Rs 52 billion and the fourth phase of the programme would begin on January 15, under which, construction and rehabilitation work on thousands of kilometer of long rural roads would be completed. The Chief Minister said that this programme would strengthen agri economy and facilitate the farmers in taking their produce easily to the markets.
Secretary Communication & Works gave a briefing to the Chief Minister regarding the progress of the programme. Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Naeem Akhtar Bhabha, Chief Secretary, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, Chairman Planning & Development and concerned officials attended the meeting.
