Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the quota for disabled persons whom he termed as "differently abled" person in government jobs has been increased from two percent to five percent and it would be implemented in true letter and spirit. He was talking to a delegation of Disabled Person Welfare Organisation (DPW) who called on him at CM House on Saturday.
The disabled persons said that every year on December 3, they gather outside the CM House to commemorate International Day for Disabled but they have never been invited inside the CM House. "Today we had brought flowers individually with the hope to present to young and dynamic chief minister, if allowed to see you," they said and added that after many years they had been given the opportunity to see the chief minister uninvited and top of it refreshment was also offered to them.
He issued directive to all the provincial departments to implement Disabled quota while recruiting new staff. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the PPP had passed a resolution in Sindh Assembly in 2005 to urge building control authority to include construction of ramp for wheelchairs but it has not been implemented so far. He directed chief secretary to ensure that in future no layout plan of any new building is approved until a separate space for ramp is included. Syed Murad Ali Shah ordered an inquiry on suspension of a disabled employee of karachi Water Board. "I would provide you more employment opportunities and would establish a sports facility for you," he said.
