The government will implement the directions of Supreme Court of Pakistan about holding census and the process will be completed before the next general elections, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said on Thursday.
Talking to media in the Punjab Assembly on Thursday, Rana said the government would implement the orders of the Supreme Court in letter and spirit. Rana said performance of police could not be contested mere on the basis of four incidents. About Qismat Baig's murder, he said people of showbiz were involved in her murder and police had apprehended the accused.
Regarding death of Samia at Chamba House, he said MNA Chaudhry Ashraf could not be declared as accused. The investigations show that Samia died due to addiction however, further investigations were in process. He further said the accused involved in Millat Park case had also been arrested while culprits of Garden Town case had been identified. Rana also criticised PTI Chief Imran Khan for levelling baseless allegations. "Panama Leaks issue is now over while those practising negative politics should be ashamed," he said, adding: "Imran is a national leader and it does not suit him to level baseless allegations."
Moreover, the Punjab Assembly was informed on Thursday that the government would install water filtration plants at village level throughout the province in a phased manner. Speaking during Question Hour in the Assembly, Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Malik Nadeem Kamran said WASA was replacing the water pipes in Lahore to ensure provision of clean drinking water to public. He said the government was paying special attention to provide arsenic-free water to the citizens.
