The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan was urged on Tuesday to designate judges at high courts and subordinate courts of the country through National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC) in order to provide remedy in the immovable property related cases of overseas Pakistani within six months.
Talking to Business Recorder, Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis (GCOP) Hafiz Ahsan Khokhar said that the Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan has been requested to approach the high courts and civil courts through the NJPMC for redressal of disputes related to immovable properties of overseas Pakistanis in the country.
Khokhar further informed that currently overseas Pakistanis are contributing to national economy through remittances of approximately Rs 19 billion, whose confidence in the local legal system needs to be enhanced. The GCOP told that a number of overseas Pakistanis' lawsuits relating to the immovable properties, are pending in the various courts at different levels such as encroachment, illegal trespassing and preparation of fake documents for selling their property with mala fide intention.
He said that Justice and Law Commission of Pakistan has also been requested to take measures through NJPMC to address the ordeals of the overseas Pakistanis for remedy in the lawsuits. "High courts and civil courts may kindly be approached through the NJPMC to designate judges at high court, district courts and sub-division courts to deal with the cases of Overseas Pakistanis (plaintiff/defendant) and to decide these cases in the limited time (six months). It may be ensured that no stay order in such cases be issued beyond 90 days," Khokar added.
