Indonesia wheat imports seen up eight percent

Indonesia's imports of wheat for human consumption are expected to climb 8 percent this year and up to 7 percent in 2017, the head of an industry association said in an interview, amid sturdy consumption growth in Southeast Asia's largest economy. Imports of the grain used in the production of noodles, bread, cakes and pasta are expected to jump to 8 million tonnes this year from 7.41 million tonnes imported in 2015, Indonesia Flour Mills Association Chairman Franciscus Welirang told Reuters.
