Pakistan Show in Colombo continued to attract huge crowds for the second day as the visitors belonging to various walks of life showed keen interest in Pakistani products. The three-day Pakistan Show arranged by the Punjab government in active collaboration with Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was inaugurated a day earlier.
According to the LCCI spokesman, the response was beyond their expectations. The exhibitors including Chief Executive of Stylo Shoes Javaid Siddiqui, Asim of Six B Group and MA Basit of Guard Rice said that they had sold out all their products. The TEVTA blue pottery stall was also a great attraction for most of the exhibition visitors.
Pakistan High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Major Gen(r) Syed Shakeel Hussain also paid repeated visits to stalls and painting exhibition. He also took active part in all the activities including the music show and food festival. Renowned Pakistani brands including Stylo Shoes, Masood Textiles, leading manufacturers of hand-knotted carpets, blue pottery manufacturers and metal work and stone carving work were of great attraction. The Sri Lankans' interest in Pakistani shoe brand was so great that some of the goods were sold even much ahead of the formal inauguration of the event.
The paintings and photographs exhibition of renowned Pakistani painters and photographers including Saeed Akhtar, Ejazul Hassan, Ejaz Anwar, Zulfiqar Zulfi, Maria Khan, Ammara Khan and miniature artists Bashir Ahmad, Imran Qureshi and Ayesha Khalid and Calligraphers Ahmad Khan and Imran Sultan was a feast for the eyes of the Lankan art-lovers. Tabla, violin, sattar, saragi, dhol and flute artists including Ustad Raees, Ustad Latif, Noshad, Sajjad Hussain, Zohaib Hassan etc were especially flown to Colombo by the Punjab government to highlight the soft image of the country.
