150th LHC anniversary celebrations: Judicial moot on upholding rule of law eld

District Judiciary organised judicial conference on the topic of "Upholding the Rule of Law" at Circuit House in connection with the 150th anniversary celebrations of Lahore High Court. Former Justice Sh Ghulam Sarwar was the chief guest on the occasion while District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi, former D&SJ Khalid Mehmud, DCO Salman Ghani, CPO Afzaal Ahmad Kausar, VC GCU Professor Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, Senior Civil Judge Afzal Majoka, Civil Judge Mumtaz Hunjra, Additional Commissioner Coordination Khadim Hussain Jilani, other judicial officers, representatives of civil society and NGOs, students of GCU Law department and others were present in the conference.
While addressing the conference, former Justice Sh Ghulam Sarwar said that the peace and development of the society could be possible by upholding the rule of law. He said dispensation of the justice to the people was imperative for the prosperity of the nation and the Lahore High Court played its historical role to protect the basic rights of the people.
He cited the important and historical cases decided by the Lahore High Court and said that the history of Lahore High Court was full of precedents of various cases in which justice was provided to the affectees. He lauded the holding of different events for the celebrations of 150th anniversary of Lahore High Court throughout the province.
District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi mentioned the upholding of rule of law in Islam and said that the justice was imperative for the existence of the society. He informed that three-day events had been arranged in connection with 150th anniversary celebrations of Lahore High Court under the directions of Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah to raise the public awareness about the law and justice.
VC GCU, Professor Dr Muhammad Ali congratulated the Chief Justice Lahore High Court, other justices and judicial officers on 150th anniversary of Lahore High Court and said we could uphold the rule of law by following the Quran and Sunnah. DCO Salman Ghani and CPO Afzaal Ahmad Kausar said the district administration and police was active for providing justice to the citizens without any hindrance. Senior Civil Judge Afzal Majoka thanked the guests for attending the judicial conference.
