Additional Director Anti-Corruption, Nadeem Sarwar has claimed that Punjab government has evolved a scientific system to check the corruption in the Government departments however, the cooperation of civil society was imperative for eradicating the corruption from the roots. He stated this while addressing a seminar to raise awareness against the menace of corruption here at Government Islamia College, which was arranged by Anti-Corruption Establishment Faisalabad Region.
He said that Punjab government has taken a number of measures to curb the all kinds of corruption. He maintained that anti-corruption complaint management system have been introduced by this establishment to monitoring the government officials so that lucrative posting could not be assigned to corrupt officials. He informed that "Quick Response Desk" had also been set up by the Anti-Corruption Establishment in all districts of Punjab for providing relief to the complainants speedily.
DCO Salman Ghani highlighted the reasons of the menace of corruption and said that it could be eliminated by maintaining good governance in Government offices and people could be provided justice and relief to protect their rights. He informed that information technology system had been introduced and the attendance of the staff was being maintained by introducing biometric system. He said that complaint centre had also been established at DCO office to curb the corruption. He stressed upon holding awareness seminar against corruption regularly.
Director Anti-Corruption Faisalabad Region, Dr Irshad Ahmad informed that declamation, painting, poetry and essay writing competitions had been conducted in various colleges with the collaboration of Directorate of Colleges in connection with the celebrations of World Anti-Corruption Day, which is being marked on December 9. He said that aggrieved complainant could contact with local Anti Corruption office in case of demanding illegal gratification by any government official.
Later, prizes and shields were distributed among the students achieving top position in declamation and other contests. Director Anti-Corruption Faisalabad Region, Dr Irshad Ahmad, Director Colleges Rana Munawar Khan, Principal Professor Sibgatullah Tahir, Assistant Director Anti-Corruption Zahid Nizami, other officers, representatives of the NGOs, teachers and a large number of students attended the seminar.
