The Punjab government will recruit 1,200 nurses and 178 pharmacists to improve health services in the province. Approval to this effect was accorded by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during a meeting to review the progress of the Health Reforms Program in Lahore on Friday. Shahbaz said recruitment will be done purely on merit. He also said Punjab government is taking solid steps to ensure availability of the best medical facilities to the masses.
Shahbaz said Biomedical Resource Centre will be completed till January 2017. Moreover, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a steering committee has been constituted for implementation of reforms action plan in primary & secondary health department.
Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will be head of 18-member steering committee while Advisor to CM on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique and Chief Secretary will be co-convenors of the committee. The meeting of steering committee will be held every week regularly to review reforms programme for bringing improvement in primary & secondary health.
Steering committee will work for achieving desired results by determining targets for improving public health facilities. The committee will speedily forward the matters settled with the team of health department of Turkey and monitor reforms steps being taken in this regard.
