Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, urged the Supreme Court to give a road map for the corruption proceedings of Panama leaks. In a statement, before departing for Multan, Khanewal and Vehari on Wednesday, he said that a high level judicial commission alone could chalk out the mode of investigation and effective accountability, and make it mandatory for the parliament to frame a law on these lines. He said this was essential to raise the image of the judiciary as well.
Liaqat Baloch said the corrupt elements had taken shelter in the administration, armed forces, political parties and social organisations, and the prevailing corrupt system is protecting the corrupt mafia. Therefore, along with the judiciary, the general public would also have to play a decisive role to weed out corruption.
He said the best way to achieve this end was to reject the corrupt and incompetent elements through the power of vote and elect honest and sincere leadership. He added, JI's drive against corruption had created an awakening among the masses and JI was trying to organise the people against the evil on every front. As such, he said, the people should support the JI for getting rid of corruption, for restoring the country's image and bringing it at the point of self reliance.
