Deputy Commissioner Thatta Mirza Nasir Ali has directed the concerned officers of different departments to make all out efforts to complete the elimination of polio disease and to make proper arrangements with ensured strict monitoring during polio campaign starting from 23 to 26 November 2016 in Thatta district. He said no negligence on part of officials concerned would be tolerated during 3-day polio campaign.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting of District Polio Eradication Committee held at Darbar Hall at Makli. The meeting was attended by District Health Officer Abdul Fatah Mahar, AC Thatta Captain Bilal Shahid, all Assistant Commissioners and officers of Police, Education department, PPHI, Social welfare, Local Government and others.
He said complete eradication of polio disease is necessary to save our future's generation from this menace that must be made possible at any cost by collective efforts of everyone. Nasir Ali stressed upon the parents, Ulemas, teachers, NGOs, elected representatives, Media and people from all walks of life to play their vital role in this national task by creating awareness and co-operating with health department in the vaccination of anti-polio drops to children below the 5 years of age. He also directed the Assistant commissioners to hold evening meetings to review arrangements regarding polio campaign at Taluka levels with the concerned officers of health and other departments.
During meeting DHO Dr Abdul Fatah Mahar informed that Health department has a target of 183068 children below 5 years of age for administering anti-polio drops and total 503 mobile and 36 transit teams have been constituted for 30 Union Councils of the district. The police officers assured all possible assistance and security to polio teams at sensitive points during 3-day anti-polio drive.
