Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the provincial government to regularise the services of 39 doctors who have been working at the Population Welfare Department (PWD) since 2008 on a contractual basis. A division bench of SHC on Wednesday, May 4, heard the petitions of Dr Asma Riaz, Dr Marvi Shah and Dr Kaneez Zehra and others versus the provincial government for the regularisation of the years-old contractual services of lady doctors.
The petitioners were appointed on contract through Sindh Public Service Commission in 2008 in BPS-17. The court ordered the provincial government to regularise the petitioners' jobs with all the benefits and allowances. Asad Shakil, Dhani Bux Malik and Tarique Ali Jakhrani represented the petitioners in the case.
