Punjab chief minister, governor discuss rehabilitation measures for flood victims
A meeting was held between Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Monday during which the measures for rehabilitation of flood affectees were discussed. Sources said views were also exchanged over current political and economic situation of the country and development projects in the province.
The CM Shahbaz Sharif said on the occasion that the process of payment of first instalment of compensation to flood-hit people had been completed and it is the first time that financial assistance has been provided to the affectees in days instead of months.
Shahbaz further said that the process of payment of the second instalment to the flood affectees will be started from October 20, during which losses of houses, crops and cattle will be compensated. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that Punjab government led by CM Shahbaz Sharif has provided all-out help and assistance to the flood victims.
Moreover, former senator and a leader from Balochistan Nawabzada Mir Haji Lashkari Raisani met Shahbaz Sharif and discussed the country's overall situation. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that solution of the problems being faced by the country is the collective responsibility of all political parties and their leaders. He said that Pakistan cannot afford politics of protests and sit-ins. He said that instead of pushing Pakistan deeper into crisis, the elements staging sit-ins should play their role for progress and prosperity of the country.
