BALAKOT: At least nine persons of the same family died and 6 others injured on Wednesday when a jeep fell into a hundred feet deep gorge at Bila Sacha village Balakot on Wednesday.
According to police sources, a family which was coming from Sharan village after attending an engagement ceremony when reached their native village Bila Sacha on jeep No. 209, the driver lost control and the jeep fell into hundreds of feet deep gorge. Five women and four children died at the spot and six others were critically injured.
The local people on self-help basis pulled out the dead bodies with a lot of difficulties as it was the most difficult terrain and moreover they had no equipment for recovery.
The injured were shifted to Tehsil Hospital Balakot where all of them were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad, the doctors declare the condition of two injured critical.
The ill-fated dead persons were identified as Fatima wife of Shafique, Sahib Noor wife of Fazal ur Rehman, Mehr un Nisa wife of Muhammad Rafique, Shamaila wife of Abdul Rehman, Aisha wife of Nazeer, Khanfa wife of Khari ud Din, Sidra and Amina daughters of Muhammad Rafique, and Safeer son of Muhammad Ali.
Locals have many complains about the poor conditions of the Tehsil Balakot roads where during last couple of year more than 2 dozen people have lost their lives and many vehicles also skidded off road due to the poor condition of the road and plunged into the deep ravine.
