Holding free, fair general elections imperative for strengthening system: Tariq

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PML-N leader Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Wednesday said holding general elections in a free, fair and transparent manner was imperative for strengthening system in the country.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also stressed for ensuring transparent elections and that level playing field should be provided to every political party.

He said electoral reforms committee had given recommendations regarding electoral process which were passed by the Parliament.

To a question, he said the PML-N had been part of Asghar Khan case proceedings in the past as well and would also cooperate now or whenever asked.

Tariq Fazal said difference of opinion was beauty of democracy and the PML-N was the only political party which has been keeping its democratic values alive where everyone has right to express opinion independently and criticize party policies.
