Asserting that the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) left the country in a fine situation, deposed Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that the party ended their tenure with additional electricity for the citizens.

Sharif said this while speaking to the media outside an accountability court. Responding to a question pertaining to the power outages across the country, Sharif said that the PML-N was only responsible for its tenure that completed on May 31. "We generated additional electricity before our tenure ended."

The ousted premier added that former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had inaugurated many projects during their tenure. He hoped that they would be able to inaugurate motorways in Multan, Lahore and Sukkur as well.

Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz appeared before an accountability court pertaining to corruption references filed against his family by the National Accountability Bureau. Judge Muhammad Bashir is conducting the court proceedings.

During today's hearing, Sharif’s legal counsel Khawaja Harris, continued the cross-examination of key witness Wajid Zia, who headed the Joint Investigation Team, in Al-Azizia reference.
