GUJRANWALA: Defence Minister Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan said on Wednesday that democracy was guarantee to the progress and prosperity of the country.

Talking to chairmen of newly inducted union councils in his constituency, he said the PML-N government believed in politics of service to the masses, adding that they would go to people's court on the basis of performance in next general election and would again come into power with the power of vote.

He said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would not take rest until and unless, he restore the sanctity of vote, adding that if vote was respected, then democratic institutions would strengthen ultimately.

The defence minister said the country had been put on road to progress, and now today's Pakistan was more better than the Pakistan of 2013, adding that former regimes established records of inflation, corruption and plundering.

UCs chairmen Shahid Muzaffar Bhinder, Farid Iqbal Awan, Haji Aslam Forman, Atif Masood Butt, Rana Tariq, Malik Mateen Awan, Khalid Mehmood Mughal and Ghulam Murtaza Chheena were also present on the occasion.

They assured the minister of their full support in elections.
