SIALKOT: The Punjab government will start wheat procurement drive in the district from Thursday, on May 3, 2018.
District Food Controller (DFC) Sialkot Muhammad Rohail Butt said that all necessary arrangements had been finalized in this regard.
The DFC said the food department had set up ten wheat procurement centres in all four tehsils of the district including Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur where staple food would be purchased direct from growers.
He said the Punjab government would purchase 92,298 metric ton wheat from Sialkot district. Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sialkot Asghar Ali Joiya and Sialkot District Food Controller (DFC) Muhammad Rohail Butt visited the wheat procurement centers in Sambrial, Pasrur, Daska, Chawinda, Poorab Kalair, Kotli Bawa Faqeer Chand and Qila Kalarwala.
They inspected the process of gunny bags distribution and arrangements made by the government for wheat procurement.
