TOKYO: Tokyo stocks closed slightly lower on Wednesday as investors retreated to the sidelines in the middle of a holiday week and ahead of a US Fed statement and key data.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.16 percent, or 35.25 points, to 22,472.78 while the broader Topix index edged down 0.15 percent, or 2.66 points, to 1,771.52.
