Major Qamar Zaman Chaudhry (Retd) assumed the charge as Chairman NAB on Friday. Senior NAB Officers of the NAB Headquarters were introduced to the Chairman and briefly outlined their respective duties, according to a press release. Meanwhile, the appointment of Chaudhry Qamar Zaman as chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was challenged in Supreme Court Lahore Registry on Friday, according to INP.
Petitioner Barrister Zafarullah filed a petition in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry and stated that according to the constitution, a retired government officer could become chairman of NAB but Qamar Zaman had given resignation from his post therefore he did not fulfil the criteria for becoming the NAB chairman. The petitioner requested the court to nullify the appointment of the NAB chairman.
