Judge, wife challenge IHC's verdict in Tayyaba torture case

Additional district and sessions Judge (ADSJ) Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife Maheen, who were sentenced to one year imprisonment in Tayyaba torture case, have challenged on Friday the Islamabad High Court (IHC)'s verdict.
The judge and his wife filed a petition requesting the high court to form a divisional bench to hear their appeal, local media reported.
On April 17, Justice Aamer Farooq had read out the verdict giving a years imprisonment as well as slapping a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of the accused. However, the couple had filed a bail plea to the court which had been granted. The couple was given seven days bail time, during which they were given time to challenge the court's decision.
Tayyaba was 10 years old when news surfaced two years back of her being tortured by her employers. In 2016, people in outrage demanded justice after pictures of Tayyaba became viral on social media. The pictures showed her bruised face and torture marks.
