ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) would collaborate with each other for the promotion of tourism in the country and facilities in this regard facilitation centres would be established near all railway stations.
This was mutually agreed in a meeting between Managing Director PTDC Ch. Abdul Ghafoor and Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways Javed Anwar, said a press release issued here. MD PTDC Ghafoor said there is a large room for cooperation between these two bodies as tourism and mass transit go side by side.
He requested railways to utilize its vacant lands for tourism project development so that more domestic tourism can be promoted, Railways is known to be safe, affordable and reliable transportation system in Pakistan.
Now it is the time that these organizations should cooperate and work together for betterment of Pakistan’s tourism facilities. He added that present government is committed to provide relief to general public and develop a bright Pakistan, said Ghafoor.
CEO Railways Javed Anwar said "In past, tourism was a neglected subject but I hope that due to cooperation between Pakistan Railways and PTDC, we would be able to introduce a hassle free communication solution to the tourists as well as general public."
He said that the proposal for utilization of vacant land for tourism purpose will also be considered.
He appreciated the commitment and devotion of MD PTDC for development and promotion of tourism in the country.
