The Sajada Nasheen (custodian) of the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganjshakar of Pakpatan Sharif, Dewan Ahmed Masood Chishti, on Wednesday announced joining Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He was addressing a conference at Zardari House here and was flanked by PPP's Punjab President Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, Faryal Talpur and others. Ahmed Masood said.
"The PPP is an anti-terrorist party...we will make all-out efforts to strengthen it, enabling the party to emerge victorious in the upcoming general elections." Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that PPP had always respected shrines and their custodians. He said that the PPP wanted peace and elimination of terrorism.
Welcoming the custodian of the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganjshakar of Pakpatan into the PPP fold, Wattoo termed the statement of caretaker Interior Minister Malik Mohammad Habib irresponsible and said that he should resign and join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Answering another question, he said that 95 percent of matters regarding seat-adjustment with Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) had been settled. Faryal Talpur said that the PPP was a liberal party and it respected all saints and shrines.
She said that former Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf and Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and other party leaders had started organising public gatherings in their constituencies. She said that the PPP did not believe in drawing-room politics. She said that PPP would make announcement about allotment of party tickets in Punjab on Thursday (today). She said that PPP was still following the ideology of its founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
