ISLAMABAD: The federal government significantly increased the prices of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) by up to 15.27 percent for consumers of the Sui gas companies for October 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Friday, RLNG prices for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) consumers have been increased by USD 2.1725 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), or 15.27 percent, to USD 16.3959 per MMBtu for October, from USD 14.2233 per MMBtu in September.
For Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) consumers, the price has been raised by USD 2.1296 per MMBtu, or 14.01 percent, to USD 17.3259 per MMBtu from USD 15.1963 per MMBtu in September, the notification said.
OGRA calculated the RLNG prices based on two LNG cargoes imported by state-run Pakistan State Oil (PSO) under long-term contracts with Qatar. One cargo was imported at a slope of 12.1963 percent of Brent crude oil prices, while the other was imported at 9.3046 percent.
PSO imports Qatari LNG under two long-term, Brent crude-linked contracts, while Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) did not procure any spot cargo. In September, despite several bidding rounds, the government did not purchase any cargo from the spot market due to high prices.
In a statement, Ogra spokesperson said, “Due to recent route closures, cargo delivery to Pakistan was delayed, which caused a slight delay in finalising the notification.”
