Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Friday called for stronger institutional linkages between Pakistan and Singapore, saying closer engagement would help promote peace, stability and security in the region.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, who called on him at General Headquarters (GHQ), according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Singapore and emphasised the importance of constructive engagement between the two countries.

The meeting also covered matters of mutual interest, evolving regional and global security dynamics, and avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation. Both sides exchanged views on regional peace and stability and underscored the need for sustained engagement and cooperation in areas of shared interest.

Dr Balakrishnan welcomed the strengthening of bilateral ties, praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces, and acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability.
