Pakistan’s tyre industry is targeting exports of $150 million in FY2026-27, up from $116 million in FY2025-26 and $35 million in FY2021-22, as the Commerce Ministry has assured the sector of support in addressing market access barriers and expanding overseas sales.
At a recent meeting chaired by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, market access concerns relating to Pakistani tyre exports to Türkiye came under discussion.
Officials informed participants that certain categories of tyres already enjoyed concessions under the bilateral Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).
Exporters were asked to provide specific product details and Harmonised System (HS) codes to enable the ministry to take up outstanding issues with Turkish authorities.
The export target for FY 2026-27 represents an increase of approximately 29% over the preceding fiscal year, reflecting the growing contribution of tyre manufacturing to Pakistan’s industrial export base.
The industry exports a substantial proportion of its products to markets described by manufacturers as tier-one destinations, including the United States and Brazil.
Shipments to these markets underscore the importance of meeting international quality standards and customer requirements while maintaining competitive production costs.
The issue of tyre exports has also been highlighted at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Commerce in which the ministry’s official stated that the government was extending all possible facilitation for export of tyres.
Service Long March (SLM), which commenced commercial production in 2022, recorded exports of $67 million in FY2025-26, accounting for approximately 58% of the industry’s total overseas earnings.
The company is targeting exports of $100 million in FY2026-27, representing growth of approximately 49% over the previous year. If achieved, the target would account for around two-thirds of the industry’s projected exports of $150 million.
A senior industry official confirmed the company’s export plans, highlighting SLM’s growing contribution to the sector’s overseas sales.
Recent shipment figures also reflect the company’s performance. SLM recorded exports of $9.5 million in September 2026, compared with $6.9 million in September 2025, representing an increase of approximately 38%. The company accounted for around 63% of the sector’s reported exports of $15.1 million during September 2026.
Chinese technology and manufacturing partnerships have helped strengthen local production capabilities, enabling manufacturers to cater to international customers and develop additional product categories.
In the passenger-car radial (PCR) segment, Armstrong began export sales in August 2026 and is supplying markets including the United States. SLM plans to commence PCR exports in 2028, which would broaden its overseas product portfolio.
The industry’s ability to achieve its FY 2026-27 export target would strengthen its contribution to foreign exchange earnings, industrial activity and the diversification of Pakistan’s export base.
