ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Friday defended the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, calling it a aimed at strengthening collective security and regional stability.

At his weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said that the newly signed Badr Memorandum of Understanding among Pakistan, Qatar, Türkiye and Indonesia is a framework for expanded cooperation in defence production, technology transfer, training and joint ventures.

He said that the Makkah agreement was consistent with the UN Charter and contained no hidden provisions, while cooperation under the Badr MoU would be developed further through subsequent protocols and agreements.
